衣原体目（Chlamydiales order ）属于广义细菌，为严格细胞内寄生、有独特发育周期的革兰氏染色阴性球形微生物，包括7个主要的家族或家族性谱系：衣原体科（Chlamydiaceae），Criblamydiaceae，副衣原体科（Parachlamydiaceae）, Piscichlamydiaceae，Rhabdochlamydiaceae，西门坎氏菌科（Simkaniaceae）,和华诊体科（或称石德菌科，Waddliaceae）。除了衣原体科，其他成员笼统称为类衣原体。衣原体科微生物在人或动物中都属于致病菌。类衣原体也属于专性细胞内寄生，目前的研究较少，其中一些成员与人或动物的疾病有关联,如：Parachlamydia acanthamoebae与人类肺炎有关，还可能在牛引起流产；Simkania negevensis可引起呼吸道感染，尤其是儿童当中；Waddlia chondrophila引起牛的流产，并且很可能在人也同样如此。一些能抵抗阿米巴原虫的类衣原体也同样对人的巨噬细胞有抗性。因此，检测这些衣原体和类衣原体对人类和动物疾病的预防和治疗有重要的意义。

衣原体可以通过培养法和血清学方法进行检测。由于衣原体是专性细胞内寄生，因此必须在活组织或细胞内进行培养，操作复杂，耗时，灵敏度低。血清学方法的灵敏度较低，且容易产生交叉反应。PCR法具有灵敏度高、特异性强的优点，检测速度快，只需两三个小时即可完成，可以有效弥补上述两种方法的不足。

本试剂盒针对16S rRNA基因区间序列设计引物，特异性识别衣原体目所有成员，经BLAST验证，与衣原体目以外的其他生物基因组没有交叉反应。本试剂盒检测了64个猪样本，获得14个阳性，测序证实其中10个为猪衣原体（Chlamydia suis），1个类似鹦鹉热衣原体（Chlamydophila psittaci），还有3个属于未知衣原体。
